In the designation of this field report, "D895/O", is of particular note. There appear to be some cryptic clues about the War Doctor. "D" and "O" may stand for "Doctor", or just the letter D alone, while "O", similar to 0, might indicate an omission of a Doctor or the fact that this incarnation did not go by the name of "Doctor". The numbers 8 and 9, while not apparent at the time this episode was released, seem to indicate this Doctor's placement between the [[Eighth Doctor]] and [[Ninth Doctor]], while the inclusion of a 5 suggests "half", or halfway between 8 and 9, 8.5 (alternatively, "5/0" could simply mean "50" as in the 50th anniversary of the series) providing one of the earliest hints toward where the War Doctor fit in among the incarnations of the Doctor before any solid proof was given. It wasn't until ''[[The Night of the Doctor (TV story)|The Night of the Doctor]]'' and ''[[The Day of the Doctor (TV story)|The Day of the Doctor]]'' that the War Doctor was proven to be an incarnation between the Eighth and Ninth Doctors respectively.
