According to the Tenth Doctor, a single cell could take at least a century to mature. If infected by a very small number of cells, he hypothesised that Queen Victoria could remain more or less human, but presumably end up passing on the infection via bites down the generational line till the Haemovariform reached maturity. | According to the Tenth Doctor, a single cell could take at least a century to mature. The fully-grown Haemovariform possessed immense physical strength, able to break out of a cage barred by iron, crush humans under its sheer weight and plough through wood with its claws. It was capable of standing on its hind legs, but at speed it had to move on all fours. Its body was completely impervious to bullets, explosions, blades and conventional weaponry - though it did obviously feel such blows, they failed to penetrate its hide. They are obviously an intelligent species, as they can be convinced that they are allergic to mistletoe, but this is probably irreversible once they have matured completely. Haemovariforms transform and develop under moonlight, but - in a similar fashion to humans needing water but still being able to drown - an excess of moonlight would eventually destroy them. | |||
