*The only thing I don't think I'll like is the fact America will get it before us, and may not be shown on our screens for months... hopefully not though. --The Thirteenth Doctor 18:48, June 8, 2010 (UTC) | *The only thing I don't think I'll like is the fact America will get it before us, and may not be shown on our screens for months... hopefully not though. --The Thirteenth Doctor 18:48, June 8, 2010 (UTC)
They will get it before us, I didn't know that, Torchwood has really caught on over there then. I wonder if we will get more well known american actors in torchwood, like James Marsters, he was good but he did kinda play spike again. John Barrowman is in desperate housewives and might be in Glee so maybe he will get some of his co-stars from them to be in Torchwood series 4. :I'm sure the same sources Americans use to watch Doctor Who without waiting will allow Brits to watch Torchwood... but since those sources are of questionable legality, it's best not to speculate on that here.
:Anyway, I don't think it's that Torchwood is more popular in the US than in the UK; it's just that the US is a much bigger market. With about 5x the people, a show with half the ratings share still reaches 2.5x as many viewers. And with the recent explosion in cable networks creating original programming, there's actually a lot more freedom to put on shows without the ratings expectations that the major networks have traditionally had.
:By the way, I heard (from someone in the biz) that Starz really wanted the show to shoot in Vancouver (it's cheaper, and it's easier to turn parts of Vancouver and the surrounding areas into other places), but it had to be shot in LA because Barrowman is too busy in LA and London with both shooting and recording music to be based anywhere but one of those two cities. What else is he working on next year? (I know Desperate Housewives and Glee are both shot in LA.) --Falcotron 00:45, June 9, 2010 (UTC) |
