[[Lord]] '''Barton''' was a [[Regency era]] [[aristocrat]] who took on many lovers, and planned never to [[marry]]. He attended some of the [[Duchess of Pemberton]]'s [[ball (event)|balls]], and was generally considered to be an eligible [[bachelor]] in well-to-do circles. Described as a "[[rake]]", he had "[[sex|dishonoured]]" Lord [[Galpin (Rogue)|Galpin]]'s [[Galpin's sister|sister]] in numerous locations, including the [[library]], the [[kitchen]] and the [[stable]]s. Whilst taking a promenade outside during one of these balls, Barton was confronted by Galpin about his behaviour, to which Barton responded by suggesting Galpin challenge him to a [[duel]].
