The Doctor shows Martha the evil Baltazar and they foil his plan with a fungus on a spoon (the spoon contains a modified fungus which eats metal). He wants revenge on the Doctor for destroying his ship, and he will use the Infinite to get it. The Doctor and Martha meet Caw, Baltazar's parrot and he tells them to find the Infinite before Baltazar gets it. Little do they know that Baltazar is following them. The first trip is to a pirate ship on the oil haven planet Boukon, and they must get the directions to the next destination from the pirate Kaliko. She attempts to escape with the chip, but is mysteriously murdered. They get it and then go to Myarr, a war zone between the Mantasphids and the native humansThey sort out some political problems, but the chip carrier Meregrass is murdered mysteriously like Kaliko. They then go to Volag-Noc, the ice cold prison planet.  The Doctor is captured and sentenced to 2 billion years in prison. He discovers that the real governor is imprisoned and the fake governor, Gurney, had taken over the prison. The Doctor and the true governor escape, with Gurney escaping with the chip outside. As Gurney threatens Martha with a gun, Baltazar appears. Gurney shoots Caw, eventually killing Caw. Baltazar murders Gurney and takes his data chip. He reveals that he killed Kaliko and Meregrass to gain the chips. He seizes the Doctor and Martha and forces them to take him to the Infinite's location.
Part One
Baltazar is aboard his space ship looking upon a digital display of the Earth. Caw is with him in a spherical cage. Baltazar gives the order for the plasma cannons to prepare to fire upon the Earth. The TARDIS materialises aboard Baltazar’s ship. The Doctor and Martha Jones step out and the Doctor tells Martha of Baltazar’s title as scourge of the galaxy. Baltazar tells Martha of how he hand forged his ship to make it the finest warship in the galaxy. The Doctor goes on to say off how Baltazar recently blew all of Earth’s defences into the sky. The Doctor tells Baltazar that he really shouldn’t have done that. Baltazar reveals his plan to consume the earth in a field of plasma fire that will compress all carbon-based life forms and reduce them to Diamonds. The Doctor reveals his plan to stop Baltazar using a spoon he produces from his pocket. Baltazar uses a hooked hand to chop the spoon in half. The end of the spoon falls upon the deck. The Doctor again tells Baltazar he really should not have done that. Martha asks the Doctor why not and the Doctor explains the spoon was passed down all the greatest chefs in history. Then the Doctor tells Baltazar the spoon was made on a planet that specialized in fungus. The deck of the ship then rusts quickly away forming holes one of witch Baltazar falls down. The Doctor admits he pepped it up a bit. The Doctor frees Caw from his cage with his sonic screwdriver before flying off in the TARDIS. The Doctor predicts the most likely planet for Baltazar to be put in prison would be Volag-Noc.  The Doctor asks Martha to give him a number between 0 and 99, she says 45 then for the second number 72 followed by 3. The Doctor explains he is doing the destination settings. The Doctor tells Martha the TARDIS is taking them to Copacabana Beach.  Baltazar’s ship falls apart with the rust but Baltazar escapes riding on Caw.
