Talk:Against Nature (novel)

Things to discuss[[edit source]]

So, first things first, I have a proposed summary at User:Najawin/Sandbox 4, and while in general I haven't asked for reviews in the past, I'd like some feedback before shipping this one just due to the nature of the book. Other things to discuss:

  • The last page of 12.5 references an opossum that seems relevant and this is the only mention of it. I would very much like to be sure that I can leave this thing out before moving on, especially given the link between 12.5 and 13.4.
  • While this doesn't impact the summary, it does impact how I will write character pages, Momacani has some interesting knowledge in 13.4 that is also referenced in 13.1. It's not entirely clear to me how we're supposed to interpret these two chapters in light of one another.
  • Given 13.4 and some of the comments made about Icnopilli there, if anyone has read The Unwoken Princess, that would be very interesting. This blog post was interpreted just to be about Momacani in an earlier draft by the wiki on Prelude to Against Nature, but I'm not entirely sure that's the correct reading, and think it's probably a little more complicated than that.

Considering the links between PROSE: Against Nature and PROSE: Golden Age, I wonder if that so-called possum might not be a TickyScrooge MacDuck 22:07, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
I think unlikely, it's described as having human eyes. Could be an earlier version of them. But given there are multiple instances of an owl that isn't an owl, one time described as having weird eyes, I think it more likely it's magical. The issue is what precisely it's supposed to be. Given the surrounding context you'd think Yaotl/Formosii, but I'm far from certain that's correct. Najawin 22:17, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
Ah. More of a curious echo than an in-universe connection, then. Hm. Scrooge MacDuck 22:22, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
Okay, so, I've gotten most of the character pages done. I'm not sure about Momacani, both in the sense that the link between 12.5, 13.1 and 13.4 all seem relevant to that character page, and it's a weird situation that I've not written a page about before, so I'm not sure what the policy is for a character of that type. Crossover[[edit source]]

This book is categorised under "Category:Stories that crossover with non-DWU series", and I'm wondering if this is because it uses elements of The Periodic Adventures of Señor 105, which we now class as a spinoff. (Essentially, if nothing from any other non-covered series is in this, the tag should really be removed.) Cookieboy 2005 14:31, 10 October 2023 (UTC)

I think it might be because it crosses over with Aztec mythology? Could be wrong, though. Aquanafrahudy 📢 14:35, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
Nah, it's 105. I'll remove it. Good catch. Najawin 17:20, 10 October 2023 (UTC)
