Sightings[[edit source]]
I've removed the "Sightings Page" section, which was just a straight copy of this page from Who is Doctor Who?. Apart from the copyright issues inherent in copying and pasting an entire BBC webpage into the wiki verbatim, since the page was user-generated the sightings and names cannot be considered canon and are unsuitable for in-universe listing here. For example, I wrote one of those entries myself back then; I don't think that makes me (or my old boss whose name I signed to it as a joke) eligible for inclusion in this wiki as an in-universe character. It is now impossible to tell which, if any, of those entries were written by BBC staff rather than enthusiastic fans, so on this basis I cannot see any alternative but to reject the "sightings" page's canonicity.
The submitters' listed names - some of which were signed as Whoniverse characters, some other fictional characters like "Marty McFly" or "Arthur Dent," most of which were just random screennames - were wikilinked. Most of the screennames were redlinks, but some have been given their own in-universe articles consisting of nothing more than their contribution to this fan-generated webpage. I'm now going through those and nominating them for deletion, pointing back to this talk page for the explanation and rationale. Rob T Firefly 06:05, October 6, 2010 (UTC)
- I disagree. With the deleting pages. Not every entry was put onto the page. Only a certain number. They've obviously been specially chosen, and although fan made, by including them on the site it makes them canon, in the same way including the Ninth Doctor in The Tomorrow Windows makes him canon. --The Thirteenth Doctor 09:36, October 6, 2010 (UTC)
- The articles that are marked for deletion are pretty much word-for word for the 'Sightings' page.
- Given the user generated nature of this information maybe we should exercise some editorial control and remove the individual pages. We should still maintain a link to the list of sightings and the information where-in remains canon-ish. But the articles that are prop deleted have no other links to them (their links were the list). So if there's any other supporting information the articles will remain. If not they get deleted. --Tangerineduel 12:42, October 6, 2010 (UTC)
I count the 'sightings' page as canon... 86.152.200.56talk to me 20:34, August 18, 2017 (UTC)

Functionality[[edit source]]
Najawin, earlier today the website sent me to a 404 error on the BBC website, yet now it's working again. Must've been maintainance, or something, and I jumped the gun. Epsilon the Eternal ☎ 12:00, July 29, 2020 (UTC)
