Hooks[[edit source]]
Yes, hooks certainly exist (in DWU). But should there be a page for them? They are an ordinary object like buttons, hangers, floors, etc. I would say, unless hooks are used in some especially timey-wimey way, there is little reason to make an article about them. I don't think it's a coincidence that no one has created Hook yet. Amorkuz ☎ 00:19, May 14, 2017 (UTC)
- Well, according to Tardis:Wikify wisely, "as long as the noun is mentioned in a valid source, an article can be written about it". There's two likely reasons an article about hooks hasn't been made yet: no one stumbled across it in a valid source, or didn't feel like creating it. The policy even goes on the exemplify there's no such thing as a object being "too mundane": Glasses. So I see no harm on doing one for hooks, as long as they are used. Specially if we think about hook variants, such as fishing hooks, etc. OncomingStorm12th ☎ 00:26, May 14, 2017 (UTC)
- Cmon man, I created rain. I created Tupperware. I've made a pages on washing up and f'ckn washing-up liquid. Not everyone is prepared to work on such articles, but they are absolutely valid options to make. I'm sure hooks have been used in interesting ways in some devices. Even if it was simply a page describing different uses for hooks, with sources, that would be a valid article, and it might get expanded on in the future.
- Ok, you've persuaded me. Mainly because it can indeed be misleading. I, however, disagree that we should keep a page open for every single noun of English language because someone might make a page about it some day. If a page is being created (as in OncomingStorm12th says that they will create a page for hook), there is no question. Especially given that Hook (Character Assassin) is derivative from the word "hook". However, to start renaming Companion, Joy, Earth (to Earth (planet) because it also means soil), Heritage etc., to do that just because it is in principle possible to write articles on the nouns themselves would be, in my opinion, too much. Especially given that there is a reliable method of initiating such a move when needed. An editor who wants to write such an article can simply put a rename tag to free up the name.
