Wikipedia might be more useful?[[edit source]]

Especially since there's no serious deviations from the real world in the Doctor Who universe regarding Beijing/Peking, perhaps a link to the Wikipedia entry on Beijing might be more appropriate than a new page here? Monkey with a Gun 09:15, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

I've added the {{wikipediainfo}} template onto the page. But I think the page should remain, Peking is mentioned a few other places, and there should be enough to bog the article out to at least a few more sentences here and there. Generally it's better to have a link to any given 'thing' if it's mentioned more than once or so in-universe.
Though on a side note concerning deviations, if there are no serious deviations, then logically there would be in-universe sources to prove this, and therefore there would be enough information to fill the article. (But anyways it's the little things that count). --Tangerineduel 14:55, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Just noting that current wiki policy allows for articles to be made for any topic, however minor. Please see Tardis:We're Wikipedia's evil twin. Shambala108 01:29, June 26, 2016 (UTC)

Rename[[edit source]]

Should this article not be called Beijing? In the lead, while Peking only has one credit - Marco Polo, Beijing has several - TV: Last of the Time Lords, Revenge of the Slitheen, The End of Time; AUDIO: By Jacqui McGee, Axos Unleashed. I'm sure users are also much more likely to search for Beijing rather than Peking. 66 Seconds 08:45, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Warring States uses both, I believe it switches between who is doing the narration. Najawin 17:47, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
I'd be in favour of this rename. I've noticed similar issues with other Wade–Giles named articles where they rely more on the first mentions over the more common mentions, or having a general balance of sources that use both romanisation methods. Peking, however, has much more often been referred to as Beijing in the DWU as time has gone on, and with it being a major capital city is subject to frequent mentions, so there is not much of a balance here. I support the rename, based on a precedent set with T:CHAR NAMES, it being the most commonly used name. --Tangerineduel / talk 07:58, 11 January 2024 (UTC)
