I feel like this page should be moved to Doctor Who and the Planet of Evil (novelisation) because the first edition cover saying Doctor Who: The Planet of Evil is a typographical error corrected in later editions, and it's not even the title used consistently in the first edition. Both the spine of the book and the inner title page say Doctor Who and the Planet of Evil. I believe that in this specific instance the combination of both the spine and title page should overrule the front cover name, especially considering the 1982 edition also went with the Doctor Who and the Planet of Evil title. - A few years ago we got rid of the beginning "Doctor Who" in titles for easier searchability, but then again, we also added in the "Bernice Summerfield" in titles, so this could go either way. Shambala108 ☎ 03:57, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- Well… technically there’s no "and the" in the title of the novelisation, so we shouldn’t use "and the" in the title of the page. With this small detail, the book ends up just being Doctor Who: The Planet of Evil (novelisation), in which case we end up with a similar case to what was agreed in the past with titles beginning with Doctor Who:. - If the spine, the title page, and the majority of reprinted editions all use and, then it seems like the page should be moved, with a redirect remaining at the current title. – n8 (☎) 20:02, 29 March 2023 (UTC)
- I was just reading CIA File Extracts (novel), and the page cites the use of the "copyrighted title" over what's on the page. This made me think, do we know what this story's "legal" title is? OS25🤙☎️ 07:50, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
- Seems sensible to me — really, it's not about searchability/disambiguation (or else we'd have done The TV Movie long ago), for which redirects will remain anyway. As discussed in the thread that got rid of most prefixes, "Doctor Who and…" isn't covered by that decision because it's genuinely part of the title. If we didn't have the spine I'd be more hesitant, but the combination of the "correct" title genuinely appearing on the sleeve of the original edition (just not on the cover), and of the information on its probable legal title, do ultimately mean that this page would be best renamed to Doctor Who and the Planet of Evil, with a redirect obviously being retained.
- Note that this decision also applies to the analogous case of The Revenge of the Cybermen (novelisation), hereafter Doctor Who and the Revenge of the Cybermen. Scrooge MacDuck ⊕ 18:34, 30 March 2023 (UTC)
