Tardis:Format for audio stories

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
This is a tutorial for writing articles about audio stories.

Before writing an article you should consider what information is available, as you may not have enough information to write a valid article.

At the very least, a valid article should have a publisher's summary, Cast list, the correct infobox and information to fill out a majority of the fields (see below) and the official image of the audio's cover. It should also have the correct layout for an audio story as detailed below.

Please do not attempt to write an audio story article if you are unable to provide these.

Please also, if you do not have the necessary information or time to complete any of the other headings or sub-headings listed below, please include them and add ''to be added'' below the sub-headings so that other editors may add to them when more information becomes available.

By the very nature of a wiki all the other information will eventually be completed. No one here is expected to go it alone.

  • The CD infobox is used for all audio stories, even if they have not been specifically been released on a CD.
  • The infobox contains basic information such as Doctor (or main character), Companions, Publishing date, Enemy, year audio story is set...etc.

Publisher’s summary

  • This is the description on the back of the CD (sometimes called the blurb).
  • If there is no description on the back of a CD use the publisher's summary of the audio story on the publisher's website. This should only be done when the story is a non-CD release.

Plot

  • This is a detailed summary of the story. The plot for audio stories should be divided up into Parts/Episodes. Single part/episode audio stories (such as the I, Davros stories of the Gallifrey) do not require this division). Plot descriptions must be original content and not plagiarised or otherwise copied from another source. Please see our Plagiarism and copyright policies for more information concerning plagiarism and copyright.

Cast

  • This is a list of all cast and characters in the audio drama.
  • Layout for this is:
  • Character Name - Actor Name
(including bullet point)

Uncredited cast

  • Uncredited cast members shall only appear in a section clearly labelled "Uncredited cast"
  • The "Uncredited cast" section shall appear under and as a subsection of the "Cast" section
  • Names in the section shall only be added when citation has been found for them.

If several actors played the same unnamed role, such as "Daleks", "Cyberman", or "Thal", it is enough to simply list that part once and list all the performers who played that role beside it, separated by commas. Again, this makes for easier reading. Please give a source for uncredited performers, however, as it'll be unclear to most readers how we know about these artists at all.

References

  • This is a list of characters, organisations, planets, races and species and other items which are referred to in the novel.
  • The list should be divided into categories, and for better clarification short descriptions of what it is (or how it fits into the story).

Notes

  • This contains information such as extra information about the audio story.
  • Any other information which does not fall into other headings.

Continuity

  • Tie-ins between this audio story and other stories such as; other audio stories, TV stories, novels, short stories, comic stories, or any other stories.

External links

  • Here you should place outside links to any sites you used in researching the article, or to sites which may have more information.
  • Usually a link to the corresponding Big Finish page and Doctor Who Reference Guide page. Or in the case of other audio dramas a link to the publisher's page.
