Telepathic contact

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference
(Redirected from Telepathic conference)

Telepathic contact[source needed] was a Time Lord ability to form a telepathic link between multiple minds for high-speed conversations and decision-making. Contact could be established by different incarnations of the Doctor (TV: The Three Doctors, The Five Doctors) or two versions of the same incarnation from different points in time. (AUDIO: The Wrong Doctors) It could also be established between two different Time Lords (AUDIO: The Apocalypse Element, The Missing Link, Operation: Hellfire, TV: The End of Time, Spyfall, Fugitive of the Judoon, The Timeless Children) or three (AUDIO: Intervention Earth) as well as between a Time Lord and a human, (AUDIO: Love and War, TV: The Girl in the Fireplace, The Lodger, Village of the Angels) enabling one to erase the memories of another, (AUDIO: Afterlife, TV: Journey's End) or, with a sufficient boost, to locate them. (AUDIO: The Missing Link, TV: The Timeless Children)

Once contact was made, knowledge gained by one mind was immediately shared with the others. (AUDIO: The Light at the End) While this process had to be initiated by choice for more in-depth information, a casual mind-touch was considered a courtesy greeting on Gallifrey. Telepathic contact could also be used to switch bodies, a method used by two switched incarnations of the Master to return to their correct bodies. (AUDIO: The Two Masters)

Telepathic contact did not require the consent of all parties to work. (TV: Journey's End) Time Lords tended, but did not require, to speak the word "Contact" before attempting it.

Instances[[edit] | [edit source]]

During the incident with Omega, the Third Doctor used telepathic contact with the Second Doctor to bring the earlier Doctor up to speed on everything going on. Later, the two used it again to conjure up a door to escape a cell in the antimatter realm. They used it one more time, along with the First Doctor, to come up with a plan to defeat Omega. (TV: The Three Doctors)

The Eighth Doctor experienced full telepathic contact with his past seven selves when he went to visit them after the Bruce Master's last trap left him with near-total amnesia, each meeting with his past selves seeing him regain all their memories up to the point where they met, starting to regain memories of their future by the time he met the Third Doctor. (PROSE: The Eight Doctors)

In a negated timeline, the Twelfth Doctor established a contact with Rassilon inside the Cyberiad to use the Eye of Harmony to restore the Universe altered by the Gallifreyan Cyber Fleet. (COMIC: Supremacy of the Cybermen)

In 1892, the Twelfth Doctor established contact with the Eleventh Doctor to prove his identity. (AUDIO: Regeneration Impossible)

In order to find the Master, the Doctor made telepathic contact with him which led her to the Cybercarrier parked over the Capitol on Gallifrey and Ashad's shrunken body. The Master then made contact and revealed that he had sensed the Doctor's actions and purposefully led her to Ashad's body and the death particle. The two then agreed to a meeting before cutting off contact. (TV: The Timeless Children)

The Thirteenth Doctor made contact with Claire Brown, with her consent, to speak to the rogue Weeping Angel within her mind. Eustacius Jericho took polygraph recordings of their telepathic contact, and the Weeping Angel within Claire ensured that those readings took the form of a Weeping Angel, allowing one to take form from this image. (TV: Village of the Angels)

In one instance, the Thirteenth Doctor was simultaneously in three different locations, both inside and outside her universe, and was able to establish contact between herselves. This allowed her to visit another one of herselves by TARDIS, and then to co-exist in physical space. (TV: The Vanquishers)
