A temporal projection was a type of forecast of the future preformed by the Time Lords to see potential time streams. According to one account of the Genesis Incident, the Time Lord messenger specified to the Fourth Doctor that Gallifrey's "latest temporal projections" warned them of a time-stream in which the Daleks had wiped out all other life in N-Space.
