The Evolution of the Planet Skaro was a prose piece original to The Dalek Outer Space Book which told a longterm history of Skaro.

The story was notably the first instance of the Neutronic war being referred to as the "Thousand Years War", prefiguring the name "Thousand Year War" popularised in TV: Genesis of the Daleks [+]Loading...["Genesis of the Daleks (TV story)"].

Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]

The history of Skaro is explained, starting with the planet's formation following a galactic collision in Year 0 of Skaro history. In the Siletarian Age, a water system forms on Skaro, with primitive blood-red vegetation being the planet's first lifeform. In the Planivastavian Age, life evolves and snake-like reptiles prosper, beginning Skaro's Age of the Reptiles. In the Thalistunian Age, Skaro is the home of numerous huge monsters and its humanoids begin to develop. The turning point to the Sparasunian Age is the extinction of the "mighty reptiles"; in the new era, mankind evolves to have warring societies. The era of the Thousand Years War is the Age of Unreason, with war beginning on the first day of year 0 of the New Skaro Calendar. In year 1600 of this calendar, the Year of the Dalek begins, an era which will last until the year 1,000,000.
