The Futurists was a Tenth Doctor comic story published in Doctor Who Magazine.

Soon after the leader of the Futurist group disappears, Milan is destroyed. In its place is a huge, futuristic city. The Doctor and Rose travel back to the time of the Romans to find out who is behind this...

- Rose mentions 99s, tutti frutti, Boudicca and WKD.
- The Doctor mentions Kraftwerk, Purple Haze, and Starlight Express.
- When explaining the Futurists' history, the Doctor tells Rose that they ended up fascists for Benito Mussolini when he joined Adolf Hitler in World War II.
- Rose fancied a boy at her school who liked Pantera's thrash metal, and she still has a weakness for Planet Caravan.
- Rose compares Valente to the Rock.
- The Doctor acts with confusion when he hears a Roman call for an attack on the Silurians, mistakenly thinking he means the Earth Reptiles.
- The Silurian Liberation Front fight in the name of Caratacus.
- Giovanni is obsessed with architect Antonio Sant'Elia's work.
- Aeron thinks the Hajor dimension might be Annwn.
- When told the Hajor "smooth out" the paradoxes in the timeline created by time travellers, the Doctor compares them to "the blokes with shovels [that] follow the elephants in the Disneyland parade", only to realise he would be the elephant in the example.
