User talk:Chubby Potato
Thanks for your edits! We hope you'll keep on editing with us. This is a great time to have joined us, because now you can play the Game of Rassilon with us and win cool stuff! Well, okay, badges. That have no monetary value. And that largely only you can see. But still: they're cool!
We've got a couple of important quirks for a Wikia wiki, so let's get them out of the way first.
British English, please
We generally use British English round these parts, so if you're American, please be sure you set your spell checker to BrEng, and take a gander at our spelling cheat card.
Spoilers aren't cool
We have a strict definition of "spoiler" that you may find a bit unusual. Basically, a spoiler, to us, is anything that comes from a story which has not been released yet. So, even if you've got some info from a BBC press release or official trailer, it basically can't be referenced here. In other words, you gotta wait until the episode has finished its premiere broadcast to start editing about its contents. Please check the spoiler policy for more details.
Other useful stuff
Aside from those two things, we also have some pages that you should probably read when you get a chance, like:
- the listing of all our help, policy and guideline pages
- our Manual of Style
- our image use policy
- our user page policy
- a list of people whose job it is to help you
If you're brand new to wiki editing — and we all were, once! — you probably want to check out these tutorials at Wikipedia, the world's largest wiki:

Response[[edit source]]
It was a phone edit, so i could not explain in desxriotion, 9r make any complex edits.
This is alsp a phone ed8t, so i mist be brief until i get back to ky computer (I'm on a birthday celebration, which os why I'm away from all computers).
I looked at Stripped for Actuon? when i first made a tikeline algirthium, but found that ot involved too many continuity errors, mainly with the Seventh Doctor, and thus coukd not fit with the timeline page, especially since the first post-Romana story has a mental cameo by either the Nimon or the silver wigged androids from Destiny of the Daleks.
As f9r any other edits, i did not see them in the bulk, but will look into it when i do my end of month updating once I'm back from holiday.
I hope you found this response satisfactory, and i kook forward to working with you. Sincerely, BananaClownMan ☎ 00:15, June 7, 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for the wait. I had commitments to keep, but now to cover this.
When I first started making timeline algorithms to both satisfy my need for order and becase I was tired of blindly guessing where to add summaries to biography sections on the Doctors' pages (mainly from the 11 Doctors, 11 Stories anthology), Stripped for action? was one of the first places I looked, but decided to consider it an invalid source due to its depiction of the Seventh Doctor's relationship with Peri, which is not acknowledged in-universe as ever happening.
But, when it comes to the Fourth Doctor, Stripped for action?'s theory falls apart due to the inclusion of a Movellan in COMIC: Timeslip. While this could be a mistake they overlooked, the timeline pages, at least to my understanding, follow a rule of in-story information trumping all. For example, AUDIO: The Mists of Time are labeled as happening shortly after The Dolls of Death out of universe, but there are references to The Three Doctors in the story, thus placing it after that serial. As such, while a publisher could say that the Doctor's Magazine run is set before Destiny of the Daleks, a reference to that serial in-universe would mean that it chronologically takes place afterwards to the in-universe characters, at least that is the best way I can describe it.
As for the "Brighton connection", Gallery of Ghouls remains in the same general section as the other fifth series Fourth Doctor Adventures audios. Plus, like the Seventh Doctor and Maruthea, it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility that the Doctor either had a diffrent Brighton adventure off-screen and is simply yearning for another one by The Leisure Hive, or he simply stopped trying to get there after some failed attempts and then retried again with more success.
I hope you found this response satisfactory, and I look forward to hearing from you again. Sincerely, BananaClownMan ☎ 00:15, June 7, 2019 (UTC)
The Gallifrey Chronicles[[edit source]]
With regards to your sandbox, I once suspected as you did but can confirm that The Gallifrey Chronicles is not, in fact, a narrative source like A Brief History of Time Lords. It contains little to no new information, and everything is cited in-text to TV stories. It's if anything even less in-universe than AHistory, which is, I think, already much too OOU to count as a story. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 18:01, August 31, 2020 (UTC)
Dalek[[edit source]]
And another comment on that sandbox: I don't think there's any non-narrative material in Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe (like, there's bits that could be taken out of Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe (short story) and released as their own Features, but that's not how they're presented). In any event, the short story in question is presented as a facsimile of an in-universe book so it's in the wrong section anyway, I feel. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 22:12, August 31, 2020 (UTC)
Re: LEGO webcasts[[edit source]]
You say that "an argument could be made…" — well the thing is, someone already made it, and it was already rebuked. I advise you to read through Thread:176459 and Thread:211485. The basic fact is that where the LEGO Group "rebooted" most of the various other franchises they used, they actually took great pains to establish the DWU in LEGO media as literally just "the" DWU, just depicted as LEGOs. I don't know why they did so, but they did.
Of course, this argument has never been made about Supergirl Meets E.T. specifically, so as I said on Talk:Supergirl Meets E.T. (webcast), you are, I suppose, welcome to open an exclusion debate in that light in the forums, once we have those again. But I personally don't think the argument holds much weight in light of all that was said about the other two LEGO "crossovers". --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 00:32, October 22, 2020 (UTC)
- This was covered in the debates, though. It was agreed that for some reason, the LEGO Group had clearly treated the DWU differently from the likes of Middle-Earth, and more like, well, The LEGO Movie — treated the series as "canonical" background for the Doctor Who levels rather than a loose aesthetic to be pilfered from and lovingly parodied. You might disagree with this, of course, but that would take its own thread and require new evidence than the quotes thus far brought up.
- I'm also not sure what "change in policy" you mean, unless you refer to Thread:212365 — whose closure significantly predates the Forum shenanigans? --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 09:49, October 22, 2020 (UTC)
Marvel Multiverse[[edit source]]
Hiya, as evidenced from your edit on that page and your edits over at the Marvel Database, I rather suspect you are a far greater expert on the Marvel Multiverse than I am. In fact, I was mainly regurgitating the gist of what I read there when creating the article so I'm not at all knowledgeable on it outside of its DWU connections.
A cleanup tag's been added to the page but I've no idea if it's deserved. If you could look it over when you get a chance and either remove the tag if nothing's wrong or fix the issue described therein, it would be a huge help to me. Obviously it's nothing urgent so take all the time you need if you're busy. Best wishes and I hope you're well, Borisashton ☎ 23:24, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Request for Page Title Help[[edit source]]
Dear ChubbyPotato,
Thank you for pointing out not to put my name in theory page names. Also, how do you change article names? Can you please change them or tel me how? The theory pages with my username?
Thanks, PepsiMagnet
Timeless Child / Regeneration Cycle[[edit source]]
I would just like to note that The Secret of the Timeless Child makes this entire affair even more complicated, as it states that the 12 regen limit was an original biological limit. Which seems to imply that they've been reset twice, and the second reset might have no hard cap. Ah, the wonders of the Chibnall era. Najawin ☎ 05:55, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- I think that's an unnatural wording of that thought. I can see how you'd get that reading from that sentence, don't get me wrong. But if I was going to write something that meant that, I wouldn't write that sentence. I'd write
- The process worked, and Tecteun allowed others the power of regeneration - with a strict limit.
- or
- The process worked, and Tecteun allowed others the power of regeneration — but enforced a strict limit.
- Etc etc. Maybe I'm overthinking something someone wrote in an afternoon, but we take mistakes to be accurate, and the wording here leans one way for me. idk, maybe bring it up on the talk page? Najawin ☎ 06:22, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
