Mr Nobody was a comic strip originally published in the 2006 Doctor Who Annual.

Summary

The Vandos Tribunal teleports Phil Tyson to their ship to execute him for crimes committed against the Vandosians. The crimes were committed by the Vandosian Shogalath, who has re-incarnated into Phil Tyson. The Doctor and Rose arrive and help Phil escape, but not before damaging the ship's weapons so their ship will self-destruct when they try to fire.

The Doctor reveals to Phil that the crimes Shogalath committed were spreading peace to the Vandosians and beginning an enlightened age for them. The Doctor compared him to Gandhi or 'King'.

Notes

  • This comic strip first appeared in the Doctor Who Annual 2006 and was later reprinted in Doctor Who Magazine Special Edition #13 which presented the Ninth Doctor collected comics.
  • The Bailiffs of the Vandosians bear a resemblence to the Hoix. The similarities continue with the use of the bucket and its contents to combat the creatures.

Continuity

  • This story can easily fit into several places in the Ninth Doctor's timeline. Nothing in the story was revealed which would restrict where in the timeline the adventure could have taken place.
  • When Rose asks if reincarnation is real, the Doctor replies "Y'mean, could a man die and have his spirit reborn in a new body? S'pose anything's possible...". Rose will later discover that the Doctor is able to change into a new form when she sees him regenerate into his tenth incarnation in DW: The Parting of the Ways.
