Upper Boat Studios is a TV studio complex located in Upper Boat, Treforest Industrial Estate, Pontypridd, north west of Cardiff. It is the largest studio complex in Wales.

Since 2006, Upper Boat has been home base for the Doctor Who franchise, as the BBC leased the studios in order to centralise production of Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

The future of Doctor Who-related production at Upper Boat would appear to be temporary, as in December 2009 the Welsh government announced plans to develop a BBC Drama Village in Cardiff which would house BBC drama production in the region, including Doctor Who and its spin-offs. No timeframe for construction of the new studio has been announced, so for the present production of the three series remains in Upper Boat, however, since April 2012, the shows have moved to Roath Lock Studios.[1][2]
