Upper Boat Studios was a TV studio complex located in Upper Boat, Treforest Industrial Estate, Pontypridd, north west of Cardiff. It was the largest studio complex in Wales.

From the start of all DWU production cycles commencing in 2006, Upper Boat was home base for the franchise, as the BBC leased the studios in order to centralise production of Doctor Who and the newly commissioned Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures. This necessitated the transfer of sets like the TARDIS control room to the new premises. (DOC: Designs on Doctor Who)

In April 2012, the now solitary Doctor Who began to move to new premises at Roath Lock. The programme's final day of filming at Upper Boat was 11 May 2012.[1]
