The Time Scaphe was a TARDIS prototype developed on Gallifrey. It was not dimensionally transcendent. Rassilon's followers called it "Prototype III".
Like a TARDIS, it was designed to be operated by six people. At this point in their history, Gallifreyans were much more telepathic than the Time Lords were later, and the six operators were linked telepathically. One operator was designated the Pilot, and was a child, aged four years.
The Time Scaphe was destroyed when it collided with the Doctor's TARDIS (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible)
