Time Scaphe
The Time Scaphe was a TARDIS prototype developed on Gallifrey. It was not dimensionally transcendent. Rassilon's followers called it "Prototype III".
Like a TARDIS, it was designed to be operated by six people. At this point in their history, Gallifreyans were much more telepathic than the Time Lords were later, and the six operators were linked telepathically. One operator, a child, aged four years, was designated the Pilot, altough there was also a Captain.
The Time Scaphe was destroyed when it collided with the Doctor's TARDIS but later reformed after the removal of the Process and reformation of the TARDIS. Afterwhich the Scaphe returned to Gallifrey. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible)
Other Time Scaphes were constructed as simple TARDISes and were powered by the raw artron energy of the Eye of Harmony rather than by telepathic control. (PROSE: Cat's Cradle: Witch Mark)

- "Scaphe" is a Greek word for "hull" or "vessel": taken literally, "time scaphe" is a synonym of "timeship".
