Joe Ahearne (born 23 November 1963) directed five episodes of series 1 of the BBC Wales version of Doctor Who, making him the most prolific director of that series (and, by extension, of Christopher Eccleston's tenure as the Ninth Doctor).
He directed the following episodes:
- Bad Wolf
- Boom Town
- Dalek
- Father's Day
- User:Mini-mitch/Sandbox Four
- The Parting of the Ways
- User:Tangerineduel/Sandbox 9
Ahearne is notable for not only directing the most in the first series of the revived series, but also for being born on the exact same date that the original Doctor Who's first season began with "An Unearthly Child". He therefore shares his birthdate with the show itself.
His first television production, entitled Latin in a Dark Room, won the Edinburgh awards.[source needed]
