Robert's mother had twin boys named Robert and Christopher.
When Christopher died of cancer right after Christmas in 1966, Robert's father left the family. Robert's mother committed suicide by swallowing some pills.
Her death was undone when the First Doctor brought a time travelling Robert back to 1966 to take Christopher's place. (PROSE: The Little Drummer Boy)
