References

  • Mr Smith is pleased that Luke left K9 at Oxford when he came home to visit.
  • Luke was enthusiastic about helping with the Alien Files, declaring that they don't get enough aliens over in Oxford.
  • Luke notes that the name given him by Sarah Jane was less of a mouthful than his original designation "the Archetype," and expressed dubiousness about how well that name may have gone down at school. Mr Smith responds that "The" would certainly have been an unusual first name; this could be taken as a sly reference to the Doctor and any number of other characters in the Doctor Who universe whose names begin with the definite article.
  • Mr Smith compares the Sontarans' warlike qualities to that of the Daleks. The Dalek he displays on his screen is of the gold post-Last Great Time War variant last seen on Earth in the 2009 Dalek Invasion.

Story notes

This story contains clips from TV: Invasion of the Bane and TV: Enemy of the Bane.

Continuity

  • This episode established Luke's frequent visits home from Oxford, which he had last been seen leaving home to attend in TV: The Nightmare Man.
