Can we add that perhaps strax was rather resigned to his position based on his last words?
Personally, I think Strax's personality section is far, far too long for someone who has only appeared in 5 episodes to date. It contains a lot of unnecessary information that belong in the 'Biography' and 'Abilities' sections. I interpreted that a little differently - Rory was trying to convince him that he'd pull through and Strax's reply also suggested that, as a nurse, he knew Rory was lying to him. No, Dan Starkey played several different Sontaran characters before A Good Man Goes to War (along with Commander Skarr in The Time of the Doctor), similar to how Neve McIntosh played the Silurians Alaya and Restac in The Hungry Earth and Cold Blood before being cast as Madame Vastra. Strax is also native to the year 4037 (and presumably would have been born around 4025), over 2000 years after The Sontaran Stratagem is set.
