It's totally stupid science of course — the Doppler Effect suggests that you can't observe the same event going on at two completely different ends of the universe at the same time — but because the story of Logopolis happens on Earth in the 1980s at the same time on Traken, Nyssa's is said to come from "20th century Traken". In truth, she's probably from millions of years in Earth's past. It's far more likely that she comes from around the time Adric smashed into the Earth. - Actually, it could've been a legitimate misunderstanding of Circular Time. If you're not listening carefully, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Nyssa's love interest in the "Autumn" story is a younger version of the man she eventually marries in "Winter". Andrew, the guy from "Autumn", is very definitely from Earth, and "Winter" doesn't really offer a lot of specifics about Lasarti It's possible, I suppose, to believe that the full name of her husband is "Andrew Lasarti". A careful listen doesn't support that reading, of course, but I can see how one can jump to conclusions after a more casual enjoyment of the piece.
- The thing that throws me about the article is the assumption that she's from about the 1980s. I'd never really thought of her in terms of Earth years before, but I suppose that's what the thrust of Logopolis is. CzechOut ☎ | ✍ 18:34, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
