Actually, it could've been a legitimate misunderstanding of Circular Time. If you're not listening carefully, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Nyssa's love interest in the "Autumn" story is a younger version of the man she eventually marries in "Winter". Andrew, the guy from "Autumn", is very definitely from Earth, and "Winter" doesn't really offer a lot of specifics about Lasarti It's possible, I suppose, to believe that the full name of her husband is "Andrew Lasarti". A careful listen doesn't support that reading, of course, but I can see how one can jump to conclusions after a more casual enjoyment of the piece.

The thing that throws me about the article is the assumption that she's from about the 1980s. I'd never really thought of her in terms of Earth years before, but I suppose that's what the thrust of Logopolis is. It's totally stupid science of course — the Doppler Effect suggests that you can't observe the same event going on at two completely different ends of the universe at the same time — but because the story of Logopolis happens on Earth in the 1980s at the same time on Traken, Nyssa's is said to come from "20th century Traken". In truth, she's probably from millions of years in Earth's past. It's far more likely that she comes from around the time Adric smashed into the Earth. CzechOut ☎ | ✍ 18:34, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Children

I see two children, named Tegan and Adric, listed in the "Reunited With the Doctor" section, but the baby daughter in Circular Time was called "Neeka" (no idea of spelling). Should we mention that (the name particularly), too? Maybe under the "After Her Travels" section? Tzigone 18:06, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

The page has been edited to remove mention of Neeka (spelling unknown), the child mentioned in "Circular Time." I thought all continuities/mediums were okay to be referenced. I know there is a conflict, with Neeka not mentioned in the recent main series audios, but I don't want to leave her out of the article altogether. If the issue has been addressed, please let me know. Otherwise, I will re-add Neeka to the article. Tzigone ^{talk to me} 18:29, April 19, 2012 (UTC)

I tried to edit that part of the article, but it was edited back to how it originally was. I didn't know there actually was a character named Neeka. I only watch the television series of Doctor Who, not the audio series. Maybe someone should make a character page for Neeka?

I also found it confusing how the article said that Nyssa had three children, but later mentioned that she had only two children. Chericola ^{talk to me} 08:43, May 7, 2012 (UTC)

There's not much reason to create a character page for Neeka, IMO. Though if anyone wants to, that's fine. In Circular Time, Neeka is a baby in a crib. She gurgles a little and sleeps while Nyssa watches her. She is called by name. Nyssa later mentions to the Doctor that she is a mother now, has a daughter.

In the new audios with older Nyssa, she mentions her daughter and a son. I would think it was just a change in continuity from one audio to the next if they hadn't kept Nyssa's husband named Lesarti. I do hope it isn't just a changed continuity. But I also hope her eldest didn't die. But really, if they were keeping Lesarti, why not just say she had three kids, Neeka, Tegan, and Adric?

I understand Nyssa also lived on a planet and had children in one of the novels, but I haven't read it, so don't know the details there. Tzigone ^{talk to me} 23:33, June 2, 2012 (UTC)

I think this article has nearly got Nyssa's family correct now, but lemme review the relevant sources since someone just deleted my edit without realizing I was correcting a mistake. :/

• Big Finish audio: Circular Time - Introduction of Lasarti, her husband, and Neeka, her baby daughter. They go the hospital where he works, and he tells Nyssa to get her coat, so they're apparently living on a planet.
• Big Finish audio: Heroes of Sontar - Nyssa tells Tegan that Terminus can put her in touch with "Professor Lasarti," which again sounds like he's not at Terminus. Nyssa says she has a teenaged son, Adric, and starts to describe his older sister Neeka, but Tegan cuts her off before she gives the girl's name.
• Big Finish audio: Prisoners of Fate. Adric calls himself Adric Seronus Traken. He NEVER gives his name as Adric Traken. Both he and Nyssa say they were living on Zarat at the time she left for Helheim. I've cross-checked the spelling of all proper names with the script.
• (BF Entropy Plague brings up Adric and Neeka again, but no new details that I can remember.)
• Big Finish The Toy has Nyssa recollecting her childhood, with references to mother (still unnamed), grandparents, lady's maid, and Nyssa's initials (!) sewn into a quilt.
• The Past Doctor Adventure - Asylum says Nyssa lives alone, no mention of children or husband, and I don't think it ever names the planet. But it doesn't sound anything like Zarat. Big Finish continuity contradicts that story.

... so yeah. If anyone needs something clarified on Nyssa, I've got all the DVDs, audios, and most of the books where she appears. Circulartime ☎ 07:36, January 27, 2016 (UTC)

What if the Nyssa that went to Sarah janes funeral with Tegan (or at least went to the funeral from Australia) isn’t Nyssa “Of Traken”?

It could be ANOTHER Nyssa, after all there are plenty of people named Nyssa on Earth, even pre Who. Conversely, there are thousands of places on planet Earth where the names seem more alien than the names in KoT did. 151.63.192.5^{talk to me} 15:54, 4 August 2023 (UTC)
