Herbabaculum vitae, commonly named the weed plant, was a species of plant native to the planet Necros. It appeared to be a blueish-purple colour. It was similar in food value to the soya bean plant from Earth.
The Sixth Doctor and Peri Brown saw the plant when they arrived on Necros. Peri took a sample for her collection.
When the funerary business of Necros was destroyed, the Doctor suggested the inhabitants cultivate the weed plant for protein. (TV: Revelation of the Daleks)
