On 1 January, a number of things set in or relevant to the Doctor Who universe were released or published.
- 1966 - "Volcano", the eighth episode of The Daleks' Master Plan, was first broadcast on BBC1.
- 1966 - Part two of the TV Comic story A Christmas Story was first published.
- 1971 - Part seven of the TV Action comic story The Eternal Present was first published.
- 1972 - Episode one of Day of the Daleks was first broadcast on BBC1, beginning Doctor Who's ninth season.
- 1972 - Part seven of the TV Action comic story The Eternal Present was first published.
- 1977 - Part one of The Face of Evil was first broadcast on BBC1.
- 1977 - Part three of the TV Comic story Dredger was first published.
- 2007 - Invasion of the Bane was first broadcast on CBBC, beginning a new series, The Sarah Jane Adventures.
- 2007 - Captain Jack Harkness and End of Days were first broadcast on BBC Three, completing Torchwood's first series. Later, Blast from the Past and To the End aired with them.
- 2010 - Part two of The End of Time was first broadcast on BBC One. Later, Allons-y! aired on BBC Three.
- 2011 - Enter Wildthyme was first published by Snowbooks Ltd.
- 2013 - Hunters of Earth was first released by AudioGO and Big Finish.
