Lieutenant Beresford was the UNIT officer brought in to replace Yates when he was promoted to Captain. (PROSE: The Face of the Enemy) Years later, he was promoted to Major, in charge while Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart was in Geneva. He was summoned by Sir Colin Thackeray to deal with the threat of the Krynoid which had been Arnold Keeler.
