Alan Yentob was Controller of BBC One from 1992 to 1996. He was also Controller of BBC Two from 1987 to 1993. He commissioned the 1996 television movie for BBC One — as well as The Dark Dimension, a thirtieth anniversary project that was eventually scrapped with minor ideas brought into Dimensions in Time.
