Karkinians were an arthropodal species native to Karkinos. Female Karkinians were the most lethal of the species; if their clan was threatened, the females would stop at nothing until the threat was demolished.
The Ninth Doctor's companion, Ali, was a Karkinian. (PROSE: The Beast of Babylon)
