Winter Palace

The Winter Palace was a building in Russia.

Catherine the Great built it to house her art collection, and successive Tsars and Tsarinas enhanced the building, which was eventually considered to be the most elaborate of the Tsarist Palaces. In 1917, the last Tsar was overthrown and the first Soviet government moved in.

After Cousin Anastasia founded the Thirteen-Day Republic, the Winter Palace served as its capitol. (PROSE: The Book of the War)
