Anathema was the home of the Remote, located on the side of a planet-sized warship which spent centuries travelling through space towards Earth. The original inhabitants of Anathema included Fitz Kreiner and Laura Tobin.

The Remote were brought to Anathema in 1799 after Ordifica was destroyed by the Second Wave. (PROSE: Interference, The Book of the War) Around this time, Father Self deposited Giordano Bruno onto Anathema to integrate into the Remote. (PROSE: De Umbris Idearum)

The central focus of Anathema was the transmitter which held "the media", a medium through which all occupants of Anathema received the signals.

The spacecraft was sent by the Time Lords through space rather than time as a method of fighting the enemy in the War. At the spaceship's centre was the Cold.

By the time that Anathema arrived in local Earth space, Laura Tobin and a perfect remembered clone of Fitz Kreiner had been re-remembered through the use of remembrance tanks and had (relatively) new identities as Compassion and Kode. (PROSE: Interference)

Castellan Voran once suggested using the warship on which Anathema was built to destroy the Needle. (PROSE: The Infinity Doctors)
