Peter Gilmore played Brazen in the Doctor Who television story Frontios. He was once married to Una Stubbs.

Gilmore is best known for playing James Onedin in over ninety episodes of The Onedin Line. He is also known for his appearances in eleven "Carry On" films. His other television appearances included roles on Emergency – Ward 10 and The Persuaders!.
