Franz von Papen

Franz von Papen was the Chancellor of Germany during 1932. In that year, there were two elections, in July and November, as Germany continued to struggled to recover after World War I. All parties contesting the elections attacked Papen in their campaigns for his failure to fix the economy. The NSDAP eventually emerged victorious from the elections and Adolf Hitler succeeded Papen as Chancellor on 30 January 1933. (AUDIO: The Alchemists)
