Amazon

The Amazon was a region in South America on Earth.

In 1560, John Hart, posing as a conquistador, discovered the Crystal Monkey of El Dorado in the Amazon, only to lose it as well as a tooth to Jack Harkness, who punched him in the face. (AUDIO: The Death of Captain Jack)

In 1827, the Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond and Rory Williams visited the Amazon. (AUDIO: The Eye of the Jungle)

On 1 May 1873, Professor Cornelius Perkins and his expedition discovered what they called "a frog the size of a rhinoceros" with the leg of one of the natives in its mouth as they were searching for the city of the Maygor tribe: the legendary Lost City of Gold. (AUDIO: The Valley of Death)

In 1889, the Fourth Doctor jokingly told George Litefoot that Leela was found floating down the Amazon in a hat box. (TV: The Talons of Weng-Chiang) In the 1890s, Leela later told Ellie Higson that she had lost her luggage in the same manner. (AUDIO: Dead Men's Tales)
