Aske was sent to Earth by the Imperial Court of Katuria to act as a jailer and bodyguard of the deposed tyrant of Katuria, Shade Vassily. Unbeknownst to him, his charge was not Vassily but a decoy, a sentient Clockwork Mechanical who himself believed to be Vassily and who used the name Edward Repple while on Earth.

Aske's appearance was changed to enable him to blend in among humans. To fulfil his dual purpose, Aske always held one hand in a jacket pocket, primed on a Katurian weapon.

At a party hosted by Sir George Harding in London in 1924, Aske and Repple met the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler and provided them with a recommendation necessary to lodge at the Imperial Club.

Aske was killed by Melissa Heart's Mechanical while protecting Repple. He has never learned that he had been deceived. (PROSE: The Clockwise Man)
