Dragonflies were Earth insects.
K9 once encountered dragonflies on a planet in another dimension, partially inhabited by ex-Tellac miners. They lived alongside other Earth animals from widely varying periods of evolutionary history. Unlike most species of dragonfly on modern Earth, however, these had a wingspan of about ten feet, as many extinct species did on Earth in the prehistoric past. (PROSE: K9 and the Missing Planet)
One type of dragonfly was the forest dragonfly. The forest dragonfly was worth 150 points in the I-Spyder Book of Earth Creatures if it was spotted. (PROSE: The Last Dodo)
The Japanese word for dragonflies was "akatonbo", which Japanese pilots in the Imperial Army Air Fleet nicknamed their aircraft. (PROSE: The Shadow of Weng-Chiang)
