Krakatoa was a volcanic island in the Sundra Straits in Indonesia. It erupted in 1883. (TV: Inferno, COMIC: Under the Volcano)
History
At least three incarnations of the Doctor were present at the eruption of 1883.
Some time prior to his third incarnation, the Doctor witnessed the eruption. During this event, he also heard Primords scream for the first time. (TV: Inferno)
The Ninth Doctor, having stolen a Time War weapon from Althea Bryce visited Krakatoa to bury the , the atmosphere destroyer, allowing its destruction during the eruption. The weapon was actually part of a time loop, however, as a younger version of Althea Bryce later retrieved the weapon. (AUDIO: Her Own Bootstraps) A sketch of the Ninth Doctor was purported to have washed up on a Sumatran beach that day. It eventually found its way into Clive Finch's collection of artefacts related to the Doctor.
