Genoa was located near Venice. (PROSE: Marco Polo)

In the 1190s, (PROSE: Doctor Who and the Crusaders) Ben Daheer mistakenly suggested that the First Doctor came from Genoa. Luigi Ferrigo was a Genoese merchant during the Crusades. (TV: The Crusade)
