Cadiz was a port city in Spain. It was 30 leagues from Seville.
In 1587, Sir Francis Drake launched an attack on the Spanish Armada in Cadiz. The destruction caused by it delayed the Armada until 1588. The First Doctor and companions were present at the attack, with Ian Chesterton having been instrumental in ensuring history stayed on track by delivering Esteban Aribi's message to Drake, informing him that he should attack Cadiz.
