Shock

Shock was an emotional response to a frightening or surprising experience.

Sometimes shock was fatal. Stuart Mallory died of shock upon encountering the last emperor penguin. (PROSE: The Last Emperor) Helgert Teveler died of shock upon the sudden arrival of a spaceship. (AUDIO: The Seeds of War) Gaskill Tyran died of shock when a mind probe forced him to face all the terrible things he had done to achieve his position. (PROSE: Dark Progeny)

Doris Squire suffered from shock after seeing a Silurian and was taken to Wenley Hospital. (TV: Doctor Who and the Silurians)

To battle the effects of cyanide the Tenth Doctor needed, among other things, a shock, which he got from Donna Noble kissing him. (TV: The Unicorn and the Wasp)

Within the TARDIS, the First Doctor observed that Archibald Hamish Lethbridge-Stewart was in shock and so gave him a brandy. (TV: Twice Upon a Time)

Behind the scenes

In The Doctor of War, which is not considered a valid source on this Wiki due to its parodical nature, the War Doctor briefly tried using the alias of "Mister Moody" as an alternative to "the Doctor," but gave it up when it turned out to not produce sufficient "shock and awe" in a combat zone.
