Vince Cosmos was a musician from the planet Glam. He was also secretly a detective, fighting Martian infiltrators on Earth with the help of his personal assistant Poppy Munday and Mr Glister.
History
Cosmos was born on Glam, but raised on Earth in East Dulwich. He stole a map with the location of the souls of all the Martians on Earth from his ex-manager, Arthur Corn, after discovering that Arthur was a Martian. (AUDIO: Vince Cosmos: Glam Rock Detective)
In 1972, Vince began his music career. (PROSE: Hang onto Yourself) On May Day of that year, Vince attended a party at Hobbe's End hosted by Iris Wildthyme, along with a number of other celebrities. (PROSE: From Wildthyme with Love)
In July 1973, Cosmos performed at the Hammersmith Odeon with the Tomorrow Twins playing support. In Simon's universe, this was his retirement concert. In another universe, he was attacked by Martian Time Agents and rescued by Simon and Panda. After this he invited Panda and Simon to an after party to thank them for saving his life. (PROSE: Enter Wildthyme)
In 1978, Vince Cosmos was depressed because he was no longer popular in the eyes of mainstream media. (PROSE: Mother, Maiden, Crone)
By 1979, Glam Rock had long since declined in popularity, so he retired as both a musician and a Martian-fighting detective, returning to the planet formerly known as Glam. Iris Wildthyme travelled back in time to 1976, stole his map and gave it to MIAOW, so that they could fight the Martians in his place. (PROSE: Hang onto Yourself)
Legacy
In the 21st century, Cosmos would be remembered as the "greatest glam rocker of all time". Simon was a big fan of Cosmos.
Simon owned multiple LPs and DVDs of Vince's performances.
Iris Wildthyme kept several Vince Cosmos tapes in her Celestial Omnibus. (PROSE: Enter Wildthyme)
Behind the scenes
Vince Cosmos reappeared in Paul Magr's 2016 Bafflegab Productions audio story Gobbleknoll Hall in the Baker's End series. The story, which features Tom Baker playing a version of himself, has Baker encountering Cosmos' spirit, in the universe where the Martians invaded, first seen in Enter Wildthyme. [1]
