Summary

There's a new baby at the nursery: a wooden Cyber Baby called Woody. The other babies take an immediate liking to Woody, except for Simon, who feels left out after Eldast and Strup proclaim Woody to be superior to him. Simon's feeling of alienation only escalates further when the babies go for a swim in the inflatable pool which, unlike Woody, Simon cannot get into due to risk of electrocuting the other babies.

Later still, Woody is suddenly attacked by a swarm of Venusian wood grubs, who manage to completely eat him up. Unimpressed, Eldast and Strup immediately declare that metal is better than wood after all, to the delight of Simon, who hastily hides a large jar that contained the grubs behind his back.
