The Sphere of Freedom was a planet that housed and made immersive reality games, with many gamers from over a thousand star systems visiting it for its purple sky that supposedly brought them good luck. The Sphere's CEO was Audrey Mohinson. One of the games made by the Sphere, Fugitives, was connected to time eddies.

It was visited by the Ninth Doctor while trying to stop the time eddies from causing massive damage to history, where he met Nova. Together, they attempted to turn off the game but made the eddies much worse as a result. (AUDIO: Sphere of Freedom) This later led to the destruction of the universe though the Sphere's central arc, which the Doctor and Nova had to travel back in time to prevent. (AUDIO: Cataclysm)

After being captured by a time eddy, the Doctor rewrote the timeline by visiting the Sphere at an earlier point in time, allowing it and the rest of the universe to survive. (AUDIO: Food Fight)
