Esterath was the controller of the Glory at the heart of the omniverse and kept it safe from all who would use it for evil.
He grew weary after a nearly infinite long life since the Glory refused to give its controller complete immortality and sought a successor. He rescued the Master from the Time Vortex so he could participate in the fight for the next controller of the Glory.
