Bill was Kady Williams' step-son.
Kady raised him with Bill's father, until he left Kady and returned to Bill's mother. It was around this time that Kady became the host of the Gestalt, and she was later plagued by guilt about having "left" the boy to go "gallivanting around the universe", abandoning her chances of staying a presence in his life. At some point during her adventures as host of the Gestalt, the Gestalt attempted to convince her to sacrifice Bill for the greater good, the only occasion on which she refused to follow its guidance.
