Lute was a member of the Forest of Cheem. He was one of the guests on Platform One, accompanying Jabe to witness the Sun expanding and destroying the Earth. His friend Coffa and he were clearly distraught when the Ninth Doctor told them of Jabe's fate. (TV: The End of the World)
When the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler revisited Coffa and Lute, they informed him that survivors of Platform One had been disappearing. While the Doctor saved their garden from Montodon Slemm, Coffa and Lute disappeared as well. (COMIC: Growing Terror) They had been kidnapped by the Elth of Balhoon, who believed they hadn't tried to help the Moxx of Balhoon and had abandoned him to die. They were rescued by the Doctor and not only forgave the Elth for kidnapping them, but offered to help him. (COMIC: Reunion of Fear)
