Cicero was an audio series released by Big Finish Productions. It focused on the titular character of Marcus Tullius Cicero, played by Samuel Barnett. The series was labelled as part of the Big Finish Originals brand.

Connections to the DWU

Cicero: Series 1 was collected in a single release in May 2018. The series was set in 80 BC in the aftermath of an "age of bloody civil war and dictatorship".

Cicero crossed over with the Doctor Who universe in the 2019 Main Range story, Tartarus, in which Cicero met the Fifth Doctor. Samuel Barnett and Laura Riseborough reprised their roles as Cicero and Terentia, his wife, respectively. This story which was set in 63 BC following the overthrow of Catiline. Producer and director of both Cicero and Tartarus Scott Handcock stated on Twitter that the former was not a spin-off of Doctor Who because "Cicero existed long before" the programme's conception.[1]

In addition to Handcock working on both series, David Llewellyn was the writer of Cicero and Tartarus, as well as a number of other Doctor Who audio stories and novels.

The Sixth Doctor and Evelyn Smythe briefly discussed Cicero in the 2007 audio story, 100 BC.
